Three More Kenyan Boxers Advance in Congo Brazzaville

Three more Kenyan boxers advanced to different stages of the African Boxing Championships on the third day of action in Congo Brazzaville as follows:

1. Shaffi Bakari (Light Fly weight) beat Joshua Kizza of UG on points
2. Nick Okoth (Lightweight) beat Mtshita Mandula (Ivory Coast) on points
3. John Kyalo beat Anouar Koukou of Sudan through RSC in Round 2 ( Referee Stops Contest).

The three are through to the quarters.

However, Simon Mulinge lost by points split decision to Loic Ngumbi ( Congo ) in the Flyweight contest. Female boxer Elizabeth Akinyi will contest for the bronze medal after she lost to Clotilde Essiane of Cameroon on points, unanimous decision in the middleweight bout.
